Shivon is a 2005/2006 participant of Intense Mentoring, Inc. She received her certification of completion for her first year with the program. Upon completion, she was rewarded with an all-expense paid trip on the Black College Tour and a summer job. Shivon attended Job Corp in Flint, Michigan, earned her High School Diploma and is now a certified Dental Assistant.

Delana participated with Intense Mentoring, Inc. in 2003/2004. She earned her GED certification from Wayne County Community College in 2004. Delana also completed the ACCESSIWIA program and earned her certification in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Delana is currently a Private First Class in the U.S. Army, serving in Iraq.

Intense Mentoring, Inc. participant for 2003/2004. Kyesha graduated from Katherine Ferguson Academy in 2003. This single mother of two was the first in her family to graduate from high school. Kyesha currently works in health care and is pursuing a degree in nursing.

A friend referred Janese to IM (Intense Mentoring). She came into the program with her mind made up to make a change in her life, dissipate being homeless, estranged from her family and a victim of domestic abuse. Janese attended Wayne County Community College while living at C.O.T.S. housing. Janese obtained her GED certification and enrolled in Wc3, she will complete her associate degree in 2010. Her plans include earning her Bachelors of Science in Social Work.

The Detroit police referred Melanie to Intense Mentoring. Melanie had a quiet spirit, two children and an unstable home life. She found peace in school and refuge from the chaos that was a part of her daily life. She attended school, her children went to day-care and together they obtained an education. Melanie earned her high school diploma from Life skills alternative high school. She currently volunteers at Children’s Hospital DMC. she will complete training as a C.N.A. (certified nursing assistant) in 2010.

Linda came to the program via a teen parenting program. She was coheres into attending Katherine Ferguson Academy. Linda blossomed into a leader that helped other young women return to school, she earned a 4.0 GPA while pregnant with her second child. She graduated from Catherine Ferguson Academy and is preparing to attend Henry Ford Community College.
